COURSE OVERVIEW
As hydrocarbon explorations move to deeper waters and more distant locations, rig moving operations under more extreme conditions are challenging the vessels and their crews. The growth of the rig jacking system developed largely because of economic reasons. With the global financial and economic turbulence still affecting volatile oil prices, operators can ensure their uptime by having operational excellence.

This 3-day highly interactive and practical course will focus on the different types of self-elevating offshore rigs, how they are operated and how they are transported. Topics include independent-leg and mat-type drilling units and an overview of moving and jacking procedures. The training will cover key technical and commercial questions that a rig moving team needs to address as part of overall operations. The course contents have been designed to equip delegates with new insights into the anchor handling selection, development and operational process.

COURSE FACILITATOR
Eric Paul Schnos is the General Partner and Instructor at Dutton’s Navigation Rig Moving and Ship Handling School, part of Offshore Rig Movers International, USA. HE is experienced in evaluating bids submitted by both international and domestic customers from both a technical and commerical perspective. He has supervised up to nearly 200 jack up unites and over 20 semi-submersible drilling units. He oversaw supporting office administrations for the moves.

He was previously the Marine Supervisor and more recently, the Manger for Contracts & Marketing at Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. where he developed, maintained and expanded the customer base and relations to achieve the full utilisation of the fleet. Schnos holds a B.S in Maritime Transportation form Texas A&M Maritime Academy. His qualifications include US Coast Guard license consisting of Second Mate of Steam or Motor Vessel of any Gross Tons Upon Oceans, Master of Steam and Motor Vessel of any Gross Ton Upon Oceans, Master of Steam and Motor vessel of not more than 1600 gross registered tons (Domestic tonnage) 3000 Gross Tons (ITC Tonnage) upon Oceans, Offshore Installation Manager of Bottom Bearing Mobile Offshore Drilling Units While Underway, Offshore Installation Manager of Surface Mobile Offshore Drilling Units While Underway and Barge Supervisor.
